High Fall Workshop II on beautiful Lake Lanier

Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23, 1999, 10:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M., both days

Description - After the wonderful success of our last High Fall Workshop with Stunt Instructor Jason Kehler, ASCS is doing it again!

Stunt Instructor Jason Kehler and Fight Director Scot Mann will guide participants through an orientation to working with the stunt certified air bag. We'll then begin a series of low level jumps to aquaint participants with five varieties of High Fall techniques. Participants move at their own pace and are professionally coached every step of the way. Video critique allows the participant to observe their technique and make adjustments. Eventually, each participant will be allowed to jump as high as our lift can take them and at the discretion of Mr. Kehler.

A carefully choreographed unarmed sequence will be digitally filmed to allow participants the opportunity to perform for this challenging medium. The sequence takes place on a second story deck, and each participant's High Fall will be spliced into the sequence as they are "thrown" over the railing. It's an exciting, rough and tumble fight!

Bring a video tape so that you can take home a record of your work, both in the exciting combat scene, and in the various High Falls! You can view some of the pictures from our last High Fall Workshop at the following link ASCS Class and Seminar Photos: ASCS Class and Seminar Photos.

There are more linked from the home page. Enjoy! Come participate and try it for yourself while we still have the equipment available.

High Fall Workshop

April 10-11, 1999, 12p-5 pm, both days

Description - ASCS is proud to announce our very first HIGH FALL WORKSHOP, taught by Mr. Jason Kehler, an Instructor with the United Stuntman's Association. Mr. Kehler is a professional actor and stuntman and an extremely talented teacher. I can personally attest to his skill as a high fall artist after witnessing him perform the same high fall over 130 times, without error, in rehearsals and performances of Zorro, The Musical, with Theatre Under the Stars, Houston, TX.

This workshop is structured for the beginner, and involves a progression of skills leading to 30+ ft. high falls (higher at the instructor's discretion) over a two day period. We will be working from a platform lift, and jumping into a stunt certified airbag. We'll be working five hours each day.

Unarmed techniques for the camera will also be a part of this workshop. Bring a video tape so that you may keep a record of your work, both on the airbag and in the choreographed sequences!

SAFD Actor/Combatant Test

Description - We will be meeting every Sunday and Monday night, 7 to 9 P.M. Adjudication date is February 28th. If you have been through our entire series of classes you may choose to test in all three weapons for Actor Combatant Status. Well, it has been over a year in the making, but on this date, the first four students (to complete all three weapons) of the Atlanta Stage Combat Studio will test in Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword, and Unarmed for Stage in front of the past President of the Society of American Fight Directors, Fightmaster Drew Fracher. Kimberly Jurgen, Alan Hooper, Brian "Egon" Smith, and Wm. Michael Gray will present scenes for the entertainment of all willing to come and applaud.

Note, this event will start immediately at 7:30pm (because the Fightmaster will have a plane to catch!), so please try to be on time. Also, this portion of the test IS open to the public (yes, it is free) and will last for approximately twenty minutes.
